Why should I choose your office?
Since 1990, we have provided superior natural healthcare in a warm, family-friendly environment. If you are interested in a unique holistic perspective that will save you time, money, and improve your health, we suggest you contact us or schedule an appointment. In today's healthcare culture that over-utilizes pharmaceuticals, surgery and imaging, our focus is on Doctor-patient interaction, patient empowerment, prevention, and customized therapies. Side effects include feeling good, having less surgery, and friends becoming jealous of your newfound vitality. See below.
What does Integated Holistic Healthcare mean?
Let us begin with what we are not- 'Alternative' or 'Complementary'. Alternative medicine basically amounts to using an alternative for what is considered standard care. An example of this would be the use of St. John's-wort instead of Prozac to treat depression. Complementary care is the use of an alternative method alongside standard medical care in the hope of achieving better results. These methods are focused upon managing the symptoms of a disease.
Holistic healthcare is entirely different. Its aim is to observe the nature of the person who is seeking help. Integrated Holistic healthcare studies the patient's unique life story, their constitutional uniqueness, and the way in which he or she has dealt with the challenges along that path, and fix the root cause of their health imbalances.
Integrating the philosophies, techniques and scientific applications of Western medicine, Eastern medicine, homeopathy, bioenergetic medicine, nutrition, biochemistry, psychoneuroimmunology, and kinesiology, one is able to understand imbalances leading to dysfunction (disease) with an unprecedented level of depth.
The origins of most health problems observed today are multifactorial in nature. Labeling the compilation of symptoms as a diagnosis is merely for semantic purposes. The label itself rarely gives any information about the cause of the disorder or the unique way in which the patient may be experiencing this imbalance. For this reason, the treatment applies to the person, not the disease.
We assess your unique health history, constitution, physical health, biochemical health, mental/emotional health, epigenetics, lifestyle, and more. This allows us to view your health and health problems like a complex web, where each part of the web affects every other part; we try to get to the root cause/s of your health problems instead of just treating the symptom. At Integrated Holistic Health, we appreciate symptoms. Think of symptoms like words, and holistic healthcare like a language of symptoms.
A simple example is having hip pain and a bunion on the big toe on the same leg. All too often patients get lost in the land of specialist doctors that see symptoms as a nail because they only have a hammer. An orthopedist may suggest hip surgery, a podiatrist may suggest bunion surgery, a physical therapist may suggest mobility for the hips, ankle, and toes. Meanwhile, the toe and hip symptoms could have one related cause- either muscle imbalances never diagnosed or addressed, ligamentous laxity due to high cortisol, joint misalignment, incorrectly sized shoes, a trauma never asked about, etc. Addressing the root cause will save you time, money, and increase your results from care.
What type of conditions/patients do you treat?
Holistic medicine is for everyone, of all ages! We help newborns, children, and adults. Every condition can benefit from care, whether the focus is on a specific condition or treatment of the patient's overall health imbalances. Just like how everyone has a dentist for their teeth, everyone should have a holistic practitioner to keep their body functioning at its best. Holistic care is predictive, preventive, personalized, patient-centered care.
Do you consult with patients internationally/outside of the Chicagoland area?
Yes! We have many international patients we consult with over the phone! We do suggest that the first visit be in-person, though this is not a rigid requirement.
Will I have to come back forever?
No, the choice is always yours. However, there are profound benefits to regular "wellness" care, a few of which include- living with increased vitality, optimizing your health/performance, and predicting & preventing health issues. Try asking yourself- how much money do you spend annually for maintenance on your car, house, teeth, clothes, home, hair, nails, and skin? Our health does best with proactive, regular maintenance to avoid future problems. Without good health, none of the above could even be enjoyed fully! How much is your health budget? (Emergency funds are not a health budget)
Braces affect the alignment and structure of our teeth, bones, ligaments, muscles, fascia, etc., and an orthodontist will use a retainer to maintain the teeth in place after using braces. Similarly, we also affect structure and biochemistry, and may suggest some additional sessions once patients feel better to help maintain an improved level of health.
One of the best ways to determine how often you should receive wellness care, from any practitioner, is to ask them how often they receive wellness care. Dr. Campbell gets regularly treatment at least weekly from fellow colleagues, and more frequently when having any health issue.

What labs do you offer/perform?
We perform numerous advanced functional lab tests involving a finger prick, blood-draw, urine, hair, saliva, or stool sample. Some are in-office, some are done at home, and others are done at a nearby lab/imaging center. This is all done to save you time and money, as nearby lab centers have better hours and pricing. This is especially important for patients who are fasting in the morning, and for those with busy schedules. We do offer multiple forms of food-sensitivity, food allergy, and chemical sensitivity testing.
Do you utilize nutrition and supplements?
Yes! While we believe you should be able to get most nutrients from a balanced diet, to get an optimal nutrient profile from our diets is nearly impossible in our fast-paced world. Supplements are recommended to fill this deficit. Supplements are also used therapeutically for certain conditions. (Note: supplements are often recommended, but not imperative)
Why can't I get my supplements at Walgreens/CVS/Costco/etc.?
Caution!! Your medical doctor may have told you that supplements can be dangerous and/or fatal in high doses, such as vitamin A. This is medical fact. Supplements should never be taken without approval by a qualified practitioner. Our supplements come from FDA-approved nutraceutical and whole-food supplement companies of the highest caliber. Dr. Campbell tells his friends, family, and patients- it is better to take no supplements at all than to buy supplements at a retail store, since they usually contain no active ingredient, harmful fillers, the wrong part of the plant/herb, non-absorbable vitamins, or unknown substances. Our medical opinion is that if you only had the budget for one month of premium supplements, it would be better to buy premium supplements for 1 month than to consume cheaper, poor-quality supplements for a year. The difference is noticeable.
